A $6.3 million waterfront estate in Mount Desert with seven bedrooms and six bathrooms tops the list of Maine’s most expensive home sales from September.
The Bangor Daily News compiled the top 10 most expensive residential properties that changed hands last month using information from state transfer tax documents, which are available to the public online.
Nearly every home on the list is based in coastal southern Maine. A few outliers, like a $3 million property in Islesboro, are in the midcoast.
However, some of the priciest properties that sold last month aren’t residential homes. For example, the University of Maine System bought 300 Fore St. in downtown Portland for $17 million in early September.
