University of Maine Cooperative Extension will offer two sessions of a six-part online 4-H series on six Mondays from Nov. 9 through Dec. 14. The sessions are identical. One will be held from 4 to 5:15 p.m. and the other from 6 to 7:15 p.m. Sessions will be held via Zoom.
“Machine Learning: Intro to AI” is designed primarily for youth ages 9 to 12, though teens are welcome. Through hands-on activities, participants will explore how machine learning models make predictions, practice training AI models and build beginner computer science skills. No prior experience is required. Participants need access to a computer or tablet.
The series is free, and donations are welcome. Registration is required by Nov. 1; space is limited to eight participants. A waitlist will be available if capacity is reached. An adult or teen volunteer who is comfortable with Zoom and has basic computer science skills is also sought to help lead the series. More information and registration is available at the event webpage.
If reasonable accommodation is needed, please contact Sarah Sparks at 207-581-8206 or sarah.sparks@maine.edu by Oct. 26.
