SACO – Need a dose of exuberance in your life? Join us for a lively evening of music, movement and cultural discovery! Learn a variety of fun, easy-to-follow folk dances inspired by traditions from around the world, led by talented community dance leaders from across the U.S. and Canada, at Ferry Beach from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 24.

These dance leaders are visiting Maine for Pourparler, an annual gathering supported by the National Folk Organization and the Country Dance & Song Society. Come experience the joy of folk dance, discover new rhythms, and connect with others through the universal language of dance, all accompanied by live music!

Everyone is welcome. Great for families and singles of all ages and experience levels; whether you’re a seasoned dancer or stepping onto the dance floor for the very first time. No experience or partner is needed.

Free-will admission donations will help cover costs, $5 suggested. Pre-registration is appreciated to help us plan, but walk-ins are welcome! Register on the event page on the Ferry Beach website: https://www.ferrybeach.org/community-folk-dance.html. Ferry Beach is at 5 Boardwalk Drive, Saco, ME 04072.

The annual Pourparler gathering convenes dance and music educators who teach folk, ethnic, world and traditional dance in schools and other community settings. The conference is in a different state each year, and this is the first time in Maine (the way dance should be!).
