As a 99-year-old voter from Bangor, I’ve learned that one of the most important rights we have is the right to vote. Throughout my lifetime, I’ve seen how elections shape our communities, our state and our future.

That’s why I encourage every Mainer to make their voice heard on Tuesday. Whether you’re concerned about Social Security, rising costs, health care or the future you want for your family, voting is how we make those priorities known.

The good news is that older voters are engaged. A recent AARP Maine poll found that 87% of Mainers age 50 and older are motivated to vote this year.

No matter your age or political views, your vote matters. I’ve been voting for almost 80 years. Democracy works best when all of us participate.
