Fans who paid to see Lil Wayne in Bangor on Tuesday may have been disappointed when he skipped out on his own concert, but the internet is having a good time with it.

On Wednesday, AI-generated images of the rapper and singer started appearing on local Facebook pages purporting to explain where he’d been: at an open house in Bangor, at a Jonesport pizza shop, scoping out deals at a Houlton car dealership.

The fireman was allegedly on duty with the Hermon Fire Department, poolside with a local insurance agent and her cat, bowling in a Moxie shirt in Lewiston, and more.

A Newport cannabis business jokingly accepted the blame for the artist’s absence, saying he “got a lil TOO high” at the shop. “Time flies when you’re having fun!”

Lil Wayne has since been rebooked to play in Bangor on July 28. No official explanation has yet been offered for Lil Wayne’s absence. But more unofficial ones are almost certainly coming.
