An ATV crash in Madison left one dead and another severely injured early Sunday morning.
Tyler Atkinson, 37, was riding on an ATV with his passenger, 33-year-old Corey Gordea, on Abenaki Road just after 12 a.m. when they failed to stop at the intersection with East Madison Road, according to the Waterville Morning Sentinel.
The ATV went into a ditch and hit a tree before rolling, the Sentinel reported.
Atkinson, who suffered a severe head injury, died at the scene. Gordea was taken to Redington-Fairview General Hospital in Skowhegan, where he was treated for a severe leg injury.
Police believe speed and alcohol contributed to the crash, according to the newspaper.
The investigation is ongoing.
