Recently, Susan Collins was quoted calling Troy Jackson a “Bernie Bro.” If that means supporting healthcare for all, raising the minimum wage, reducing income inequality and policies to protect the environment, then I am 100% for Troy Jackson!
Well, here’s one for her: Trump’s Toady. A toady is “one who flatters in the hope of gaining favors,” like a sycophant, per Merriam Webster. I can’t think of a more perfect moniker.
Collins voted 95% of the time in 2025 for Trump’s policies, many of which were destructive. Her vote to confirm Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court paved the way for overturning Roe v. Wade, ending women’s right to abortion. Her vote for “anti-choice” judges threatens to end reproductive choice in our country.
Her vote advanced the bill that could cost 61,000 Mainers their health insurance due to Medicaid changes. The end of Affordable Care Act tax credits is blamed for causing 50,000 Mainers to see their health insurance premiums double, triple or even quadruple.
Don’t be fooled by her “protest votes” as showing independence. I think she only votes this way when it doesn’t really make a difference.
