MAPLETON – Geraldine Ford Turner, 87, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Aug. 30, 2008, at a Presque Isle hospital. She was born Jan. 10, 1921, in Limestone, the youngest of 12 children born to Everett and Alice (Nightingale) Ford. Jeri worked as a homemaker and caretaker for many years, looking after her husband, father and grandmother-in-law. She enjoyed knitting, cooking and crafts. She was a member of Mapleton Methodist Church and United Methodist Women, and was very active in many church activities. She is survived by a son, C. Michael Turner of Portland; several nieces and nephews, including a special great-nephew, Gene Lynch II and his wife, Pam, of Mapleton. She will also be remembered by two devoted friends, Margaret Damore and Louise Seeley. In addition to her parents, Jeri was predeceased by her husband, George, October 1988; a son, John, October 1991; as well as her brothers and sisters. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 3, at Mapleton Methodist Church with the Rev. Dot Matson officiating. Friends may call noon until the time of service. Interment will take place after the service at Southside Cemetery, Chapman. Refreshments will be offered in the church fellowship hall after the committal.
