BANGOR – Richard “Dick” J. Staib Jr., 73, died peacefully Sept. 19, 2008, surrounded by his beloved family at a local hospital. He was born March 5, 1935, in New York City, the son of Richard J. Staib Sr. and Melvina L. (Geyer) Staib. Dick began his lifelong career with Sears-Roebuck and Co., as a teenager, retiring after 34 years of dedicated service. Dick enjoyed spending time with his wife and daughters, word search puzzles, taking rides with his “buddy,” Mark, watching football, the news and especially the game show network. Surviving are his wife, Nancy Staib of Bangor; his beloved baby, Bridget; his children: son, Michael Dean of San Diego; devoted daughter, Deborah Diehl and her husband, James, of Bangor; devoted daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Mark Theriault of Glenburn; a son-in-law, Wendell James Scott Jr. of Carmel; seven grandchildren, Jeremy Scott and his wife, Laurie, of Glenburn, Denise Scott of Eddington, Nicole Scott of Portland, Wendell James Scott III “W.J.” and Cassie of Bangor, Samantha McNaughton “Grandpa’s Little Girl,” of Bangor, Anthony E. Theriault of Glenburn and Brianna M. Theriault of Glenburn; four great-grandchildren, Zack, Taylor, Shana and Brett; a sister, Joan Mueller of Buena Park, Calif.; a special friend, Millie of New York; and many special friends at Captain Nicks. The family would like to thank Dr. Le and the wonderful staff on the fifth floor of St. Joseph Hospital. The family would also like to thank Dr. Koffman and Robin for their years of care and support. Relatives and friends are invited to call 3-6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 23, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, where a funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 24, with the Rev.
