HODGDON – Madelyn C. Quint, 88, died Sept. 17, 2008, at a local hospital. She was born Dec. 1, 1919, in New Limerick, the daughter of Charles H. and Marion (Dickinson) Shannon. Madelyn attended Houlton schools and was a graduate of Houlton High School, Class of 1937. She married Shirley Quint and moved to Hodgdon, raising three sons, Lewis, Robert and Terrance. Madelyn worked several jobs, her last with Department of Human Services. After her retirement, she taught ceramics for 10 years. She was ballot clerk for the town of Hodgdon for many years. She loved making quilts, knitting, oil painting and spending time with her grandchildren. Madelyn is survived by her three sons, Lewis Quint and his wife, Lucia, Robert Quint and his wife, Noreen, and Terrance Quint and his wife, Bonnie, all of Hodgdon; eight grandchildren, Tammy Quint Boulier, Lenny Quint, Lisa Quint Brawn, Joel Quint, Andy Quint, Denise Quint Brown, Troy Quint and Tony Quint; 18 great-grandchildren, Nick, Shane, Mike, Chad, Jamie, Ashley, Casey, DJ, Mackenzie, Travis, Haley, Devin, Isac, Logan, Jessica, Derrick, Caley and Jacob; three great-great-grandchildren, Hunter, Camille and Brooklyn; special friends, Lori Little and Leta Bouchard; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Shirley; great-grandson, Connor; four brothers, Hazen, Lawrence, Elwood and Bud Shannon; and two sisters, Violet Bickford and Dorothy Rickinback. Fiends may call 7-9 p.m. Friday at Dunn Funeral Home where funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday with the Rev. David Tuttle officiating. Interment will be at Hodgdon Cemetery.
