OLD TOWN – Agatha (Morneault) Bouchard, 95, wife of Benoit Bouchard died March 22, 2006, at her home. Agatha was born April 23, 1910, in Lille, Maine, the daughter of Denis and Sophie (Doucette) Morneault. She graduated from Madawaska Training School in Fort Kent in 1937. She taught kindergarten at the Evangeline School in Madawaska. When she was first married, she substituted in the Old Town elementary schools and was building assistant for three years at the Herbert Gray School. From 1956-1969 she taught kindergarten full time at St. Joseph’s School, except for the two years that she taught third grade. She then taught kindergarten for one year for the Old Town school system until her retirement in 1970. Agatha and her husband enjoyed traveling in their retirement years. From an early age, she enjoyed doing all kinds of work with her hands, and family and friends have many examples of her work. In her later years she was legally blind and even then was able to knit blankets for her family. She was a member of the Maine Retired Teachers’ Association and the Old Town Senior Citizens Club. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren brought great joy to her life. She is survived by her husband, Benoit J. Bouchard; one daughter, Amy Morin and her husband, Arthur, of Old Town; one son, Denis Bouchard and his wife, Ann, of West Hills, Calif.; two grandsons, Kevin Morin and his wife, Beth, of Old Town, Brian Bouchard and his wife, Toni, of Semi Valley, Calif.; and two granddaughters, Linda Smith and her husband, Michael, of Milford; and Lisa Peterson and her husband, Aaron, of Sunland, Calif.; eight great-grandchildren, Jeni Cunningham and Kaylie Smith of Milford, Hannah and Gabriel Benoit Morin of Old Town, Sarah, Ethan, Megan and Jacob Peterson of Sunland, Calif.; as well as several nieces and nephews and greatnieces and greatnephews. She was predeceased by her parents, four brothers, Abel, Henry, Pierre and Severin Morneault; three sisters, Zelia Albert, Edna Hebert, Marieanna Morneault; and her beloved grandson, Michael Morin. Friends may call 5-7 p.m. Friday at the Birmingham Funeral Home, 438 Main St., Old Town. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Saturday at Holy Family Church with the Rev. Wilfred Labbe, celebrant. Private burial will be at Lawndale Cemetery, Old Town. Immediately following the service all are invited to the Holy Family Parish Center for a light luncheon and continued fellowship.
