VEAZIE and BANGOR – Albert Chick Blanchard, 72, died Feb. 2, 2008, with his three children at his side, after a brief illness at a Bangor hospital. He was born Dec. 2, 1935, in Bangor, son of Albert Cook and Margaret (Chick) Blanchard. Albert attended Bangor schools and was a graduate of Phillips Andover Academy in 1954. He graduated from Yale University in 1958 and George Washington University School of Law in 1961. Before moving to Florida in 1984, he practiced law in Bangor for many years as a partner with his late father in the firm of Blanchard and Blanchard. He was a captain in the Maine Air National Guard, Penobscot County Attorney, General Counsel and Clerk of Bangor Hydro Electric Co., and house counsel of Ocean Properties, Ltd. He was a lifetime member of Octant Society and Saint Elmo of Yale University. He was a trustee of Good Samaritan House and director and vice president of Best Corporation of Florida. Al was an avid golfer and in 1966 was the Low Net winner in the Paul Bunyan. He was a member of P.V.C.C. for several years. In the winter months, he pursued his love for skiing and was a member of the ski patrol at Squaw Mountain. He is survived by his three children, Lee Margaret Jack and husband, Ronald, of Bangor, Jill Kathryn Sommer and husband, Matthew, of New York City and Albert Chick Blanchard and wife, Amy, of Orrington; three grandchildren, Ryan and Molly Jack, and Abbigale Blanchard; the mother of his children, Kay W. Blanchard of Bangor, as well as several cousins. A graveside memorial ser-vice will be announced in the spring at Mount Hope Cemetery, Bangor.
