BUCKSPORT – Foster Soper, 45, passed away unexpectedly Jan. 20, 2008. He was born Jan. 25, 1962, in Castine, to his parents, Charles I. and Lucille F. (Lord) Soper of Orland. He was a gifted woodworker and furniture maker. His work was pure artistry. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially on his grandfather, Daryl’s lobster boat. He truly enjoyed the places in Maine that were God’s heaven on earth. Foster gave his father the gift of life when he donated one of his kidneys in 1987. He is survived by his parents; a sister, Cheryl D. (Soper) and her husband, Bart I. McGraw, of Orland; a brother, Charles Wesley Soper and his fiance, Rose Rapp; nephew, Joshua W. Soper of Nashville, Tenn.; niece, Brooke M. Soper of Penobscot; a special cousin and friend, Richard T. Lord of East Orland; several aunts, uncles and cousins. Foster leaves a void in the lives of his “two beams of sunlight,” Aryn Mariah and Tristan Ivyl McGraw, his special niece and nephew. Brother, you leave some really big shoes to fill and I will miss you every day. Someday we’ll be together again on the other side. With all my love, Cheryl. He was predeceased by his grandparents, Daryl C. and Bertha E. (Moore) Lord, and Horace P. and Mildred E. [Hutchin(g)s] Soper. There will be no funeral services. There will be a family gathering to celebrate his life, later this year. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Orland Historical Society Restoration Fund, care of Jo Ann Carlson, P.O. Box 242, Orland, ME 04472. Please help preserve the history of Orland that Foster loved. Arrangements were made by Mitchell-Tweedie Funeral Home, Bucksport.
