CARIBOU – Albert J. Gahagan, 85, husband of the late Candide M. (Babin) Gahagan, died Nov. 1, 2005, at Caribou. He was born Sept. 15, 1920, in Caribou, the son of Joseph and Mary (Chasse) Gahagan. Albert served with the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II and was among the American forces who landed on Guadalcanal in the Solomon Islands from Aug. 7 – Dec. 9, 1942. He was a member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church and was a life member and a very active member of the Lister-Knowlton Post No. 9389 VFW. Albert was a very active volunteer in the area for many organizations and local people. He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Joseph and Donna Gahagan of Manchester and Larry and Midi Gahagan of Friendship; two sisters, Anita Madore of Cape Cod, Mass. and Evelyn Wilkos of Niantic, Conn.; four grandchildren, Amy Tyler and her husband, Duane, of St. George, Joshua Gahagan and his wife, Becca, of Friendship, Hollie Pelletier and her husband, Jim, of Augusta and Danielle Guerrette and her husband, Michael, of Farm-ington; six great-grandchildren, Madeleine and Elijah Guerrette, Paige and Emily Tyler, Nolan Gahagan and Jacob Pelletier. Albert will also be sadly missed by very close friends, Lawrence and Mavis Gahagan, Sylvia Ouellette and Terry Perreault, all of Caribou. He was predeceased by a brother, Leo J. Gahagan. Graveside memorial services will be held 10 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 5, at the Old Holy Rosary Cemetery, with the Fr. David Raymond, officiating. Arrangements are by the Mockler Funeral Home, Caribou.
