BREWER – Alda C. (Eslin) Harnum, 88, wife of the late Donald G. Harnum, died Dec. 17, 2004, at a Bangor healthcare center after a long illness. She was born Dec. 31, 1915, in Bangor, the daughter of Charles and Ida M. (Clish) Eslin. Alda was a graduate of John Bapst High School and she and her husband operated Harnum’s Restaurant in South Brewer for many years. She was a communicant of St. Teresa’s Catholic Church, Brewer where she was active in Sodality. Alda was also a volunteer for the Meals for Me program and enjoyed many wonderful friends in the Brewer area. Alda was the beloved mother of four children, Sally A. Clifford and her husband, Paul, of Leominster, Mass., Donald J. Harnum and his wife, Connie, of Selinsgrove, Pa., David K. Harnum and his wife, Kathy, of Wasilla, Alaska and Robert Harnum of Brewer; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one sister, Pauline Foster of Raleigh, N.C.; two sisters-in-law, Geneva Sansom of Brewer and Margaret Perkins of Massachusetts; many nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Joan Tremble of Brewer. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by four brothers and two sisters. Friends may visit 3-7 p.m. Monday at Kiley Funeral Home, 69 State St., Brewer. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Tuesday, at St. Teresa’s Catholic Church, Brewer, with the Rev. Joel R. Cyr, pastor, celebrant. Burial in the spring will be at Woodlawn Cemetery, Brewer.
