WASHBURN – Alden H. Wilcox, 80, beloved husband of Gloria (Webber) Wilcox died peacefully and went home to be with his Lord Saturday, Dec. 18, 2004, at a Presque Isle hospital. He was born Feb. 18, 1924, at Washburn, the son of Denzil and Fern (Drost) Wilcox. Alden served in the U.S. Army during World War II 1944 to 1946 as a member of the 280th Combat Engineer Battalion in England, France, Luxembourg, Belgium, and Germany. He was a loving father and grandfather, a finish carpenter, enjoyed his hobbies of painting, reading, antiquing, and woodworking. He was a longtime member of the Washburn Pentecostal Church. He is survived by his Gloria of Washburn; three sons and their wives, Larry and Diane of Limington, Robert and Karen of Lisbon Falls, Alden Jr. (Denny) and Sue of New Hartford, Conn.; a daughter-in-law, Claudia Wilcox of Grand Junction, Colo.; a sister, Pauline Bouchey of Bangor; 14 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son, Woodford; two brothers, Mark and Morgan; and a sister, Martha. Relatives and friends may call 7-9 p.m. Monday, at the Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, 30 Church St., Presque Isle. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, at the Washburn Pentecostal Church with the Rev. Bruce Blakney officiating. Spring interment will be at Crouseville Cemetery.
