PRESQUE ISLE – Alexander Pietka, 55, died peacefully of mesothelioma Tuesday evening, Sept. 26, 2006, at his home. He was born Sept. 19, 1951, in Carteret, N.J., the son of Walter and Helen (Paczkowski) Pietka. He grew up in Long Island and Rochester, N.Y. He was a graduate of Chili High School, Rochester, N.Y., and served in the U.S. Navy during 1969-1973. He was currently employed at Columbia Forest Products and was on the City of Presque Isle planning board, until his illness. He loved remodeling around the house and refinishing furniture. Al was a member of the No. 2599 VFW Post, Presque Isle. He will be deeply missed by his wife, family, and friends. Al is survived by his wife of almost 26 years, Alfreda (Coty); a stepdaughter, Angela Reed; and a granddaughter, Jessica Townley, both of Birmingham, Ala.; his father, Walter of Rochester, N.Y.; a brother, Edward of Wakefield, Mass.; his sister-in-law, Deanna Jackson and her husband, Bill, of Virginia; brothers-in-law, Roger Coty and his wife, Berniece, of Presque Isle, Arthur Cote and his wife, Gloria, of Bangor, Dan Coty of Bangor and Howard Coty of Presque Isle; several aunts, uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by his mother April 22, 2006. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Friday at Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, 30 Church St., Presque Isle. A graveside service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday at Fairmount Cemetery, Presque Isle, with the Rev. Raymond Morency officiating. A reception will be held immediately after the burial at Duncan-Graves Funeral Home reception hall. Donations may be made in memory of Al to the Hospice of Aroostook, P.O.
