TRENTON – Robert Edward McMullen, 82, died Sept. 26, 2006, at his residence. He was born Oct. 21, 1923, in Portsmouth, N.H., the son of Fredrick Frances and Gladys Othello (Cooper) McMullen. Robert graduated from Portsmouth High School. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1942 to 1943. Bob and June moved to Ellsworth in 1968, where he owned and operated McMullen VW for seven years, and later owned and operated Seacoast Subaru/Buick. Robert was a member of the Model A Club of America, Masonic Lodge of Kittery and the Rotary Club of Ellsworth. One of his greatest joys in life was automobile restoration. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, June; daughter, Sue Carol (McMullen) Newbury; sons, Stephen and Fredrick McMullen; grandchildren, Scot, Brian, Penny, Kevin, Beth and Richard; and sister, Phyllis McMullen Grant. Friends are invited to call 10-11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 29, at Jordan-Fernald, 113 Franklin St., Ellsworth, where an 11 a.m. memorial service will be held. Interment will be at East Lamoine Cemetery.
