BANGOR – Marilyn J. “Mino” Brown, treasured mom, nana, sister and friend, died Sept. 25, 2006, surrounded by her family. She was born June 17, 1936, in Bangor, the daughter of Ralph and Ruth Brown. She attended Bangor schools and made Bangor her life long home. Mino was devoted to her family, which included countless children she raised in her 30 years as a day care provider. Mino along with her son and constant sidekick, Scotty, were well known to many as they followed their routine of visits to Geaghan’s Restaurant, Nicky’s, the Corner Store and other frequent stops. She was an active member of the East Orrington Congregational Church most notably in the Garden Club, the prayer chain and WOW service. She is survived by her children, Belinda “Bindy” Palmer and her husband, Tom, Scott Brown, Denise “Neacy” Shaw and her husband, Joe; grandchildren, Tommy Tardiff, Molly Palmer and Matt Shaw; loving sister, Dotty Brown; and her nieces, Carolyn Hathaway and Patty Brown. She will also be remembered by her former husband and dear friend, Leland Brown. She was predeceased by her grandchildren, Ben Tardiff and Katie Shaw. Mino’s tenacity, strength and faith will continue to be an inspiration to all who knew her. The family extends a special thanks to the staff at Cancer Care of Maine and New Hope Hospice, for the care and support they provided to Marilyn and her family. Friends are invited to join the family in Fellowship Hall, after the service to share memories.
