DIXMONT – Alfred A. Kenney, 67, husband of Joyce (Croxford) Kenney, died July 24, 2004, at his home in Dixmont. He was born Nov. 10, 1936, in Monroe, the son of David F. and Beulah M. (Brown) Kenney. Alfred worked most of his life as a herdsman, woodsman and well driller. He served the town of Dixmont as a selectman, transfer station attendant and was the animal control officer for both Dixmont and Troy. Alfred was a member of the Archon Lodge No. 75, AF & AM, Dixmont, was a Boy Scout Committee Chairman and was a former Little League coach. Surviving in addition to his wife of 44 years of Dixmont, are two sons, Daryl Kenney and his wife, Barbara, of Hamburg, Pa., and David Kenney of South Windham; two daughters, Cindy Philbrook and her husband, Edmond, of Dixmont, and Amanda Campbell and her husband, Jeffery, of Corinna; two granddaughters, Tonya Gayle Philbrook and Kaylee Jo Campbell; two brothers, Edward Kenney of Winterport, and Clifford Kenney of Corinna; six sisters, Joanne Leonard of Hermon, Barbara Moody of Penobscot, Linda Green of Massachusetts, Patricia Garnett of Corinna, Maxine Bass of Bangor, Madeline Lowe of Winterport; one aunt; nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his mother, Beulah Hart; stepfathers, Earl S. Murphy Sr. and Albert Hart; and one brother, Earl S. Murphy Jr. A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 28, 2004, at Luce Cemetery, Route 9, Dixmont Corner, with the Rev. Charles F. Smith officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Dixmont Recreation Fund, care of Dixmont Town Office, P.O. Box 100, Dixmont, ME 04932 or to a charity of choice.
