HOWLAND – Alfred Harriman, 88, passed away July 4, 2006, at Cummings Health Facility in Howland. He was born Aug. 24, 1917, in Burlington. He was the son of Mildred (Lord) and Earl Harriman. He worked in the woods for many years; later in life he owned Harriman’s General Store in Burlington. He was predeceased by his wife, Geraldine; infant son, Alfred Clayton; grandson, Malcolm Earl Harriman; granddaughter, Denise Jean Conrad; brother, Lewis; nephew, Richard; and parents, Mildred and Earl. He is survived by his children, Malcolm and Gail Harriman, Pam and Richard Conrad of Burlington, Ardel and Eugene Kelly, Jeffery and Teresa Harriman of Lincoln, Kathy and Mike Pond of Arkansas; a sister, Edith and Howard Shorey of Burlington; 24 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren. Graveside service will be held 4 p.m. July 15, at Mount Repose Cemetery with Pastor Ed Fleish. After the service there will be a gathering at Burlington town hall. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in his name at Lincoln Adventist Church.
