BEALS – Alfreda B. Libby, 91, fell asleep in the Lord Jan. 31, 2005, at a Milbridge healthcare facility after an extended illness. She was born Oct. 3, 1913, on Beals Island, the daughter of the late George F. and Emma S. (Woodward) Beal. She was a longtime member of the Beals Advent Christian Church. She attended the Alley’s Bay Advent Christian Church where she served as deaconess for many years. She worked in sardine and clam factories much of her life. Alfreda also picked crabs at her home which she enjoyed. She was an avid painter, writer, and poetry writer. She is survived by her sons, Ernest Libby Jr. and wife, Myrtle, Clinton Libby and wife, Leona; daughter-in-law, Eleanor Libby; 11 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; 11 great great-grandchildren; two sisters, Etta Kelley and Iona Woodward; one brother, Clinton Beal; nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband of 70 years, Ernest Libby Sr.; a son, Franklin; a daughter, Senith; a granddaughter, Peggy; two brothers, Wandell Beal and Arnold Beal; two sisters, Kathleen Newcomb and Ernestine Alley. Visiting hours will be held from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 3, 2005, at the Beals Advent Christian Church. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. at the church on Friday, Feb. 4, officiated by Pastor George Woodward and Pastor Philip Barton. Burial will be in Great Wass Cemetery.
