DEXTER, PLYMOUTH and DERRY, N.H. – Elsie M. Lobdell, 91, passed away Jan. 30, 2005, at her residence. She was born Oct. 1, 1913, at Lee, the daughter of Charles and Florence (Gifford) Ludden. She graduated from Newport High School in 1932. She lived in the Newport and Dexter area before moving to Derry, N.H., in 1962 where she resided with her husband of 41 years, William. Elsie worked at Nashua Footwear Corp. in Lawrence, Mass., before joining Sanders Associates in Nashua, N.H., where she performed many functions in the electronic field, before retiring in 1977. She loved camping, boating and especially riding with her husband on their motorcycle. They traveled to Lake George, N.Y. every June for the Americade, and toured New England, Florida and Canada. Elsie was a member of the Daughters of The American Revolution. She is survived by her husband, William Lobdell of Derry, N.H.; sons, Donald Coston and wife, Sue, of Litchfield, Larry Coston and wife, Janice, of Hartland, and Luther (Gene) Nichols and wife Cindy of Nashua, N.H.; daughter, Beverly Tremblay and husband, Stanley, of Dexter; a twin sister, Alyce Hurlburt of Pittsfield and Erma Hopkins of Bangor; a brother, Kenneth Ludden of Newport; 19 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and a very special friend, Nancy Edwards of Derry, N.H. She was predeceased by two sons, Roger Coston and Dwinal Nichols; five brothers, Arleigh, Albert, Arthur, Lloyd and Floyd Ludden; and a sister, Erva Hopkins. Friends may call from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 3 at the Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, 117 Main St., Newport, where funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday with the Rev. George Darling officiating. Spring burial will be in the family lot at Sawyer Cemetery in Plymouth. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice, 1E Commons Drive, Unit 31, Londonderry, NH 03053.
