PORTLAND – Alice Fennelly Nicholson, 90, of Portland and Northeast Harbor, died Thursday, June 24, 2004, at home with her family by her side. She was born Nov. 22, 1913, in Northeast Harbor, to Andrew and Eva Fennelly. She attended schools in Northeast Harbor. She was a member of the Rebecca’s and a member of Saint Mary’s by the Sea Episcopal Church for many years. Alice was a descendent of one of the founding families of Northeast Harbor. She was predeceased by her husband of 61 years, Bryant J. Nicholson; three brothers; and three sisters. She is survived by five children, Bryant and Gail of Portland, William and special friend, Lois, of Northeast Harbor, Ann of California, Joan and husband, Wayne, of Florida; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, including two of which were considered her adopted children, Margaret Doyle of New Hampshire and Fred Rogers of Norway. Also surviving is one sister, Inez Henckler of Bangor. She will be deeply missed by her family, relatives, and many friends. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, July 1, at Saint Mary’s by the Sea Episcopal Church in Northeast Harbor.
