BANGOR – Alice Nouhan, died Aug. 27, 2006, after a brief illness. She was born Dec. 20, 1913, in Bangor, the daughter of Joseph and Freda (Thomas) Nichols. Alice graduated from John Bapst High School, Class of 1930, as valedictorian. She lived and worked in Detroit then California, prior to returning to Bangor to care for her ailing brother. While in Detroit, she met and married Danny Nouhan, who predeceased her in 1974. Alice was a hostess for many years at Millers Restaurant and later at Pilots Grill and Paul’s Restaurant. She was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church. Surviving are her sister, Marie Pozniack of Brewer; five nieces, Nadine LeRoy, Jane Newell, Barbara Martin, Paula Murdoch and Patricia Jurkenas; numerous other nieces and nephews; a special cousin, Victoria Greeley of Bangor; special friends, Elizabeth Richardson, Patty Alquist, Paul Gervais and family and Jay Martin. Alice was predeceased by three brothers, Albie Nichols, Kareem “Cremo” Nichols and Eddie Nichols. Relatives and friends are welcome to call 4-7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 1, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 2, at St. John’s Catholic Church, York Street, Bangor, with the Rev. Roland Nadeau, celebrant. Interment will be at Mount Pleasant Catholic Cemetery. A service of Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor.
