STEUBEN – Alice T. Young, 75, after several years of surviving many illnesses, succumbed to cancer Dec. 9, 2007. She was born June 4, 1932, in Bar Harbor, the daughter of the late Elvin and Norine (Woodworth) Tracy. For many years, Alice worked as an emergency medical technician instructor and leaves a legacy in the Downeast area of many trained emergency medical technicians. She received the State of Maine Special Merit Award for EMS services in 1994. She also received the Jefferson Award for community service. She and Allen were very dedicated to their community and church. They were very active for many years with the Steuben Volunteer Fire Department and the founding and operation of the Petit Manan Ambulance. Alice was active in the Eastern Star for many years as well as being active in local politics. She served on various school boards in the area and was a longtime member of Gouldsboro United Methodist Church. Alice was a skilled seamstress and cook. She enjoyed quilting and other handcrafts, as well as researching the family’s genealogy. She is survived by her daughter, Risteen Masters and her significant other, Dan Bahr, of Orrington; grandson, Michael Lennox and wife, Beth, of North Attleboro, Mass.; daughter-in-law, Lynn Pajerski; granddaughters, Kelley Christensen and Kerry Bogardus and their spouses; three great-grandchildren, Ethan, Allyson and Boone, all of Arizona; one brother, Elliott Tracy and wife, Maureen, of Buxton; several nieces, nephews, many dear friends, students; and beloved cat, Cleo. She was predeceased by her husband, Allen Young; two sons, William and Carl Hicks; and one sister, Norita “Tebo” Strout. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 15, at Gouldsboro United Methodist Church, Old Route 1, Gouldsboro. Memorial contributions may be made to Petit Manan Ambulance Service, P.O.
