FORT KENT – Allen Martin, 78, died Nov. 26, 2003, at a Fort Kent hospital. He was born July 7, 1925, son of Victor Sr. and Sadie (Chamberland) Martin, in Stockholm. Allen served in the U.S. Navy Pacific Theater in World War II. He married Priscilla “Patsy” Ouellette on June 16, 1948. He began his construction career working for small contractors in and around Stockholm. He began his supervisory career during the construction of Loring AFB. In Limestone in the early 50s he became a partner in General Supply Corp., a general contractor firm based in Limestone from which he retired in 1978. He was an avid outdoorsman and especially loved to fish, hunt and trap. He was extremely proud of the accomplishments of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is survived by five sons and their wives, Jim and Mae, Dave and Joan, all of Caribou, Tom and Bernice of Palermo, Rick and Audrey of Portland, Bill and Elizabeth of Corvalis, Ore.; 15 grandchildren, Loren, Keith, Peter, Michelle, Chris, Kim, Lisa, Audrey, Denise, Crystal, Emily, Sarah, Leah, Rachel, Drew; four great-grandchildren, Kyle, Hillary, Owen and Liam; five brothers, Roland and his wife, Marianne, of Burbank, Calif., Victor Jr. and Eleanor of Newington, Conn., Milton of Bristol, Conn., Clinton and Leona of Plainville, Conn., Ronald of Caribou; three sisters, Reona and her husband, Arnold Porter, of Patten, Viola Caron of Fort Kent, Arlene Martin of New Britain, Conn.; one sister-in-law, Anita Martin of Caribou; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Patsy, in March 2003; one grandson, Scott; one sister, Cecile Peterson in February 1980; and one brother, Alsime in October of 2003. There will be no calling hour. A memorial Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 29, at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sinclair with the Rev. Phil Cyr officiating. Burial will be in the veterans cemetery in Caribou. For those who desire, donations may be made to the St. Joseph Memorial Fund. Envelopes are available at the church.
