HODGDON – George T. Farrar Sr., 72, died Nov. 26, 2003, at a local hospital. He was born March 23, 1931, at Amity, the son of Anzel and Alice (McDonald) Farrar. George was a lifelong member of Saint Mary’s Church and a member of the American Legion. He served in the National Guard for four years. An avid woodsman, George harvested trees for many years but was always sure to replace them all with new seedlings. He also worked as a private contractor. He enjoyed restoring antique cars and trucks. Ford vehicles were his favorite; he never drove anything else. George is survived by his wife of 53 years, Priscilla (McClay) Farrar of Hodgdon; two sons, George T. Farrar Jr. of Amity, Kenneth R. Farrar of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; two daughters, Katherine Rakowski of Fort Myers, Fla., Diana Ellen Hutchinson of Queensbury, N.Y.; two brothers, Ervin Farrar of Hodgdon, Earl Farrar of Cary; four sisters, Arlene Lambert of Augusta, Thersia Burpee of Florida, Helen Fitzpatrick of Connecticut, Mary Dwyer of Virginia; 10 grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Leigh Farrar of Houlton; and two infant siblings, Mathias and Ardis Farrar. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Friday at the Dunn Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Saturday at Saint Mary’s Church with the Rev. Eddy Morin celebrant. Interment will be in the Hodgdon Cemetery.
