CLEARWATER, Fla. – Mrs. Alma Amanda Butterfield, 91, a resident of Clearwater, died Wednesday, March 3, 2004, at the Good Shepherd Hospice Residential Center in Auburndale, due to congestive heart failure. Mrs. Butterfield was born March 4, 1912, in Medway. She came to the St. Petersburg/Clearwater area 30 years ago. She was a retired high school teacher. She retired from Lee Academy in Lee and also taught at East Millinocket and Medway schools. She was a lifetime member of Order of Eastern Star. She was of the Christian faith. She was predeceased by her parents; her first husband, George Ryan; and her second husband, E. Carroll Butterfield; five brothers and a sister. Survivors include a daughter, Veronica Ryan Howard, (Jerry) of Lakeland, Fla.; two brothers, Howard York (Marian) of Bangor, Kent York (Marsha) of Yarmouth; sister, Rebecca Cole (Benjamin) of Medway; two grandchildren, Ryan Lovejoy of St. Petersburg, Fla., Angela Haley of Cocoa Beach, Fla.; five great-grandchildren, Amanda, Starr, Cheyenne, Brandon and Michael.
