CASWELL – Alpha “Al” Suire, 77, died July 13, 2008, surrounded by his loving and devoted family, at the Maine Veterans’ Home, Caribou, after a long illness. He was born Dec. 26, 1930, on Cow’s Island, La., the son of Clodias and Edia (Hargrave) Suire. Al was a Korean War veteran, serving with the U.S. Air Force for 14 years, retiring in 1962. In 1962 he married Sylvia Jean Greenier and together they spent 46 happily married years together. Al was a devoted husband and father, who enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He is survived by his beloved wife, Sylvia of Caswell; six loving children; his son, Steve Suire and wife, Carla, of Limestone; his daughters, Sharon Adams and husband, Dan, of Skowhegan, Sabrina Robinson and husband, Robert, of Pennsburg, Pa., Sundee Perry and husband, Randy, of Kaplan, La., Belinda Hair and husband, Andrew, of Hampton, Va., and Bonnie White and husband, David, of Mapleton; one sister, Olite Miller of Abbeville, La.; one brother, Clodias Suire Jr. of Kaplan, La.; 25 grandchildren, 14 great-grand-children, several nieces and nephews; and his dearly cherished dog, Molly. The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to all at the Maine Veterans’ Home for the loving care Al received during his short stay there. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir St., Caribou. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday from the chapel of Mockler Funeral Home with Father Aaron Damboise officiating. Interment with military honors will be held 10 a.m. Thursday at the Northern Maine Veterans’ Cemetery, Caribou.
