CARIBOU – Alphena Michaud, 87, died Jan. 21, 2005, at a Caribou healthcare facility. She was born June 25, 1917, at Caribou the daughter of Joseph L. and Georgianna (Chaloult) Levesque. An honor student in school, she graduated from Caribou High School Class of 1935. She married Donald D. Michaud Jan. 9, 1975. She worked as a legal secretary in the law offices of F.E. Pendleton and O.L. Farnsworth and for the Federal Land Bank of Springfield before starting her career with the Boston and Maine Railroad from 1944-1962 and the Bangor & Aroostook Railroad from 1962 until her retirement in 1977 as chief clerk in the Presque Isle Sales Office. She was a communicant at Holy Rosary Catholic Church and was also a member and past regent of the Daughters of Isabella and served as an eucharistic minister at Holy Rosary for many years. She was a former member and past president of the Caribou Business and Professional Women’s Club; a past member of the Caribou County Club; past member and treasurer of the Cary Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and was a member and past secretary of the Caribou Day Extension. She is survived by her three stepchildren, Dawn McCormick and her husband, Edward, of Pawtucket, R.I., David Michaud and his wife, Sharon, of Gorham, and Philippe Michaud and his wife, Kathryn, of Gardiner; three sisters, Lorina Wakem and Thelma Morin, both of Caribou and Norma Turner and her husband, Richard, of Mapleton; seven stepgrandchildren and nine great-stepgrandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Donald in 2002; and her brother, Luke Levesque of Sebago Lake. Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday, at the Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir St., Caribou, Funeral services will be held 10 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2005, from the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, with the Fr. Jean-Paul Labrie, pastor, officiating in a Mass of Christian Burial. Spring interment will take place in the New Holy Rosary Cemetery.
