MILLINOCKET – Alphena M. (Landry) Ouellette, 96, died at a local nursing home on Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2004, with her family by her side. She was born in St. Francois De Madawaska, Canada, the daughter of Charles and Francois (Legassey) Landry. She enjoyed knitting, cooking, quilting, hooking rugs, and playing cards with family and friends. She was loved by everyone who knew her and was very precious to her family. She will be sorely missed. Mrs. Ouellette was a communicant of St. Martin of Tours Parish in Millinocket and a lifetime member of Little Flower Circle Daughters of Isabella. She is survived by her three children; Charlene and husband, Bob Meininger, of Millinocket, Ann and husband, Ernest Santerre, of Millinocket, Raymond Ouellette and wife, Charlotte, of Arnold, Md.; a son-in-law, David Roop of Saco. She also leaves nine grandchildren; Laurie Santerre Chute, Patrick Santerre, Lynne Santerre Shubert, Stacie Santerre Edwards, Bruce Meininger, Lisa Meininger Opie, Matthew Roop, Mark Roop, and Michael Roop; and 17 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Patrick; a daughter, Jeanine Roop; six brothers, Joseph, Alcide, Wilfred, Dennis, Dan, and Camille; two sisters, Alice Pelletier and Leana Gagne; and a special nephew, Louis Ouellette. A very special thank you to the staff at Katahdin Nursing Home for the outstanding care and compassion they provided. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 3, at R. L. Bouchard Funeral Home, 11 Tamarack St., Millinocket, where the Daughters of Isabella will recite the rosary at 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 4, 2004, at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church.
