ELIOT – Alvah Leland Beal Sr., 80, of Sergeants Lane, Eliot, died Saturday, Jan. 28, 2006, at York Hospital. Born June 27, 1925, in Colombia Falls, he was a son of Daniel W. and Martha J. (Scammons) Beal. He grew up in the Beal’s Island, Jonesport area. He served the U.S. Army in Korea. He and his wife settled in Eliot in 1973. He was employed by the town of Kittery police department as a patrolman, sergeant and as deputy chief, serving the community for 11 years before becoming a police officer on the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard for the next nine years. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Patricia Beal of Eliot; sons, Alvah “Bud” Beal Jr. of Lebanon and James and his wife, Kim Beal, of Eliot; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Lettie Baumann of Denver, Colo. and Betty Parsons of Biddeford. He was predeceased by an infant son and his granddaughter, Melissa Ann Beal. Friends may visit with his family 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, at the J.S Pelkey Funeral Home, 125 Old Post Rd., Kittery. A funeral will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, at his church, the South Eliot Advent Christian Church. Family flowers only, donations may be to his church, the South Eliot Advent Christian Church- Special Projects Fund, 256 Main St., Eliot, ME 03903. Arrangements are entrusted to the J.S Pelkey Funeral Home, Kittery.
