EASTON – Amelia E. Peers, 69, passed away peacefully July 27, 2005, with her children, and sisters, Uva and Roberta by her side, left to join her late husband, Calvin Peers Sr. who predeceased her in 1996. She was born Nov. 4, 1935, in Mars Hill, to the late Almon Spurgeon, and Jessie (Sparks) Boyd. She is survived by her children, Sandra and David Thomas of Mapleton, Calvin Peers and Peggy Johnston of Presque Isle, Kevin Peers and Vickie Richards of Westfield and Edward and Melinda Peers of Travis AFB, California; two grandchildren, Thomas Peers, Fort Bragg, S.C., and Joshua Peers of California; great- grandchildren, Kynna and Kaiden Peers. She is also survived by her sisters and their families, Orla Carney of Ashland, Burlyne and Burchie of Cousins, Fla., Roberta and Jas Taylor of Westfield, Rosella and Gene Large of Florida and Uva and Patrick Hardgrove of Westfield. She was predeceased by one brother, John Boyd; son-in-law, Arnold Kinney; and grandson, Travis Kinney. Amy worked many years at the Presque Isle Nursing Home, then McCain Foods, until she chose to stay home to care for her sick husband. Amy always had an open door, and a cup of coffee to all who came, and will be sadly missed by her special friends, Diane Michaud, Frank Whittaker, Melvin Cleaves, Angie Johnson, Barb Moirs, Richard and Judy Kennedy and Mable Tardy. Amy chose to have no calling hours and a private family graveside service at the Peers Family Cemetery in Caswell.
