LINCOLNVILLE – Andrea Jones Young, 71, died Monday, Feb. 23, 2004, at her home. Born March 5, 1932, in Wytopitlock, she was the daughter of Andrew and Gerene (Philbrook) Jones. She grew up in Lincolnville and was a 1949 graduate of Camden High School. On May 31, 1952, she married Orvil L. Young at her family home in Lincolnville. Mrs. Young was an original co-owner of Cappy’s Chowder House with Johanna Tutone. For 10 years, Mrs. Young worked as a windjammer cook aboard the Stephen Taber, which her husband captained. They later sailed on the Roseway for 13 years. She was a member of the Hope Extension for many years. She enjoyed having coffee and spending time with her wide circle of friends. Mrs. Young will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother and a loving grandmother. Her family said in 1988, she was given the gift of life as the recipient of one of the early liver transplants and had overcome many odds with her health. Surviving is her husband, Capt. Orvil L. Young; her mother, Gerene Hunt, both of Lincolnville; one daughter, Debra Thuss and her husband, Bill, of Camden; one son, Terry Young and his wife, Beth, of Lincolnville; three grandchildren, Rachel Young of Cedarville, Ohio, Lucas Young and Dana Young, both of Lincolnville; two brothers, Sam Jones and his wife, Rhonda, of Lincolnville, James Jones and his wife, Julie, of Hope; one sister, Esther Allyn and her husband, David, of Lincolnville; and several nieces and nephews. A Memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 27, at the West Rockport Baptist Church, with the Rev. Harold Carpenter officiating. There will be a reception immediately following the service at the Crow’s Nest at Cappy’s Chowder House in Camden. Spring interment will be in Mountain View Cemetery. The family suggests memorial donations be made to Camden First Aid Association, P.O. Box 368, Camden, ME 04843. Arrangements are with the Robert E. Laite Funeral Home, 9 Mountain St., Camden.
