DOVER-FOXCROFT – Anton E. “Tony” Brown Sr., 83, died Jan. 10, 2004, at a Dover-Foxcroft nursing home. He was born Aug. 12, 1920, in Monson, son of Roy and Evelyn (Harrington) Brown. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corp during World War II. Tony taught music and while in the military was a dancehall drummer. He was a member of the VFW, the Millinocket Elks Club, and the Masons. Tony was a schoolteacher, a machinist and a millwright. He is survived by three sons, Stephen Brown and his wife, Laura, of Lisbon Falls, Anton Brown Jr. and his wife, Amy, of St. Albans, and Martin Brown and his wife, Amy-Jo, of Scarborough; two daughters, Winnifred Whitney and her husband, Marcel, of Hampden and Nancy Brown of Bangor; a brother, James Brown of Abbot; a sister, Norma Herring of Abbot; many grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. A gathering of family and friends will be held 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2004, at the Crosby and Neal Funeral Home, 21 Oak St. in Guilford. Graveside services will be held in the Abbot Village Cemetery in the spring.
