WHITNEYVILLE – Ardith Hurlbert, 91, died Feb. 2, 2004, at a Machias health care facility. She was born Feb. 29, 1912, at Jonesboro, the daughter of Nettie Marston. She was a graduate of Jonesboro High School. She will be remembered as a kind and helping neighbor to the elderly “on the hill” in Whitneyville, where she enjoyed gardening and feeding the birds. She will always live in the hearts of her loved ones for her kind and loving ways. Ardith is survived by three daughters, Lorraine and husband, Cecil Pottle of Ellsworth, Maxine and husband, Alan Clark of Ellsworth, and Velma and husband, Paul Hoyt of Machias; two brothers, Carroll and Colin Marston; two sisters, Phyllis Preston and Bernice Bowers; three grandchildren, Susan, Sandra and Michael; two great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Leonard and a grandson, Mark. Friends are invited to visit with the family, 12 noon Friday, Feb. 6, at until the time of the funeral service at 1 p.m. at the Bragdon-Kelley-Campbell Funeral Home, Machias. Interment will be in the Longfellow Cemetery, Machias. Those who wish may make memorial donations in Ardith’s memory to the activity fund at Marshall Health & Rehab Facility, 9 Beal St., Machias, ME 04654.
