LINCOLN – Argie M. Moores, 97, wife of the late Lawrence W. Moores, died Dec. 5, 2003, at a Lincoln hospital. She was born in Carroll, Aug. 5, 1906, the only daughter of Frederick and Adelaide (McLaughlin) Chubbuck. Argie received her education in Carroll, Lee Normal Academy and the University of Maine, Orono. Argie’s first teaching position was in Lincoln Center, the building now owned by Avon D. Flanders VFW Post, which was home to a two-room school house. Argie was a member of the Congregational Church of Lincoln and a past president of the Ladies Guild of that church. She was a past Grand Noble of Ivaloo Rebekah Lodge, a past District Deputy No. 25, a past assembly officer of the Assembly of Maine. Argie was chosen by the Assembly and her lodge to receive the Degree of Chivalry. Argie was past president of Laura Plumly Past Noble Grands Association, a past matron of Lincoln Chapter Order of the Eastern Star, past president of the Orion Club O.E.S., past member and secretary of the Business and Professional Women’s Club of Lincoln. Argie also served as election clerk for the town of Lincoln for 25 years. Argie was also a member of Penobscot Valley Hospital Auxiliary since it was organized, serving on the Executive Board and had more than 500 hours working in the gift shop. Argie is survived by a son, Walter Moores and his wife, Grace; a daughter, Beulah Robinson and her husband, John, of Florida; a daughter-in-law, Nellie Moores, all of Florida; eight grandchildren, Wesley Robinson, Judith Greco, Donna Wells, Thomas Robinson, Becky Moores, Walter Moores Jr., Lawrence Moores III and Linda Williams; several great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. Friends may call from 12-1 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 7, 2003, at the Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, at the funeral home with the Rev.
