VAN BUREN and MADAWASKA – Aristide C. Lapierre, 87, died Jan. 10, 2006, at a Fort Kent hospital. He was born, Jan. 16, 1918, in Cyr Plantation, the son of Napoleon and Dina (Jacques) Lapierre. He was educated in local schools and was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in Europe and northern Africa. He was proud to have served as an interpreter in France for Gen. George Patton. Mr. Lapierre served as first selectman and treasurer for Cyr Plantation for more than 25 years. He was self-employed as a potato farmer for more than 30 years in Cyr Plantation. During his retirement years, he and his wife, Angeline enjoyed 18 winters in Florida. For the past several years he and his wife had resided in Van Buren prior to relocating to Madawaska in 2004. He was an avid golfer and truly enjoyed learning and teaching the game. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 1635 and a life member of the American Legion, Levasseur-Farrell Post No. 49 of Van Buren. He is survived by his wife, Angeline (Belanger) Rossignol Lapierre of Madawaska; one son, Robert Lapierre and his wife, Gervaise, of Cyr Plantation; one daughter, Rebecca St. Pierre and her husband, Clayton, of Caswell; four stepsons, Angelo Rossignol and his wife, Helene, of St. David, Donald Rossignol and his wife, Jeannine, Robert Rossignol and his wife, Alma, all of Van Buren, Roger Rossignol and his wife, Denise, of Augusta; one stepdaughter, Pat Dumais and her husband, Don, of Grand Isle; six grandchildren, Danny, Shawn, Kevin, Stephanie, Mark and Matthew; three great-grandchildren, Andrew, Nicholas and Owen; six step-grandchildren, Amy, Kim, Chad, Todd, Kevin and Jennifer; one great-step-granddaughter, Brianna. He was predeceased by his first wife, Germaine (Martin) Lapierre in 1974; and by a son, Ronald Lapierre in 1971. Relatives and friends may call 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday and 9 a.m. Friday until time of service, at Ouellette-Thibault Funeral Home, 118 High St., Van Buren. A funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Friday, at St. Bruno-St. Remi Catholic Church. Spring interment will be in the parish cemetery.
