MACHIASPORT – Arline Roe Wyner, 79, died Jan. 14, 2005, at a local healthcare facility. Arline is survived by her husband of 53 years, Harold; daughters, Tibette and Willow; brother, Byron Roe; nieces, nephews; and grandchildren, Maxwell and Claris. Arline was a Suma cum laude graduate of Northwestern University Journalism School in 1945. She pursued her journalistic career and photographed/interviewed Win-ston Churchhill, Harry Truman, Hubert Humphrey and many others. She was a career woman in a time when few woman were accepted. She set a trend for all women. After her journalistic career, she was in charge of Public Relations for Hilton Hotels in Chicago. She married her husband Harold in 1952 where they settled in St. Louis, Mo., and raised their two daughters, one of which lives in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. and the other in St. Loius, Mo. She retired in 1984 with her husband then fulfilled her dream of sailing the Carribean for about 3 years. She eventually found her way to Machiasport, “God’s Country” where she chose to remain. She loved the sea and all aspects of the sea including lighthouses. Arline was a master in all aspects of sewing crafts from quilting to needlepoint to pettypoint to embroidary to a 7-year tapestry project, etc. She will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved her. She passed peacefully of old age.
