VAN BUREN – Armand A. LeBlanc, 83, died Oct. 3, 2004, at a Van Buren nursing home. He was born Sept. 5, 1921, in Van Buren, the son of Joseph T. and Laura (Dumond) LeBlanc. He was a graduate of Van Buren Boys High School and attended the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. Armand was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of World War II and a member of the American Legion, Levasseur-Farrell Post No. 49 of Van Buren. He was the co-owner of the A.C. Madore Agency in Van Buren for 25 years, where he was employed as an insurance agent and realtor. He was elected to the Maine House of Representatives and served for three terms, retiring in 1977. Armand also served as the executive director of the Van Buren Housing Authority for two years, prior to his retirement due to ill health. He was a past president and director of the Gateway Federal Credit Union for a number of years as well as a member of the Van Buren Chamber of Commerce and the Van Buren Lions Club. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 1635 of Van Buren for the past 47 years. Armand is survived by his wife of more than 57 years, Bernadette (Tardif) LeBlanc of Van Buren; one daughter, Lorraine Roy and her husband, Robert, of Goffstown, N.H.; one son, David LeBlanc and his wife, Susan, of Hamlin; one grandson, Ethan LeBlanc of Hamlin. Relatives and friends may call at the Ouellette-Thibault Funeral Home, 118 High St., Van Buren, from 12 noon until time of service on Tuesday. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the St. Bruno-St. Remi Catholic Church. Committal service and interment will be in the parish cemetery.
