EAST MILLINOCKET – Armand A. “Sal” Gaetani, 78, died at a local hospital Monday, Oct. 10, 2005. He was born July 1, 1927, in East Millinocket, the son of Peter L. and Maria (Tortora) Gaetani Sr. Sal was a lifelong resident of East Millinocket where he graduated from Schenck High School, Class of 1944. He was a U.S. Army Air Force World War II veteran serving in Guam and Hawaii. He retired from Great Northern Paper Company, East Mill, where he had worked for approximately 40 years. Sal was an avid woodworker and was a passionate hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed fly tying, basket weaving and caning, traveling and cooking. He is survived by three brothers, Alfred and wife, Catherine Gaetani, of South Burlington, Vt., Americo and wife, Mary Gaetani, of East Millinocket and Dr. Peter and wife, Jean Marie Gaetani, of Old Town; 18 nieces and nephews; two great-nephews. He will also be missed by his longtime loving companion, Charlene Taylor and their dog, Peti. Sal’s hearty sense of humor will be missed by many special friends. Friends may call 1-3 and 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 11 at R.L. Bouchard Funeral Home, 11 Tamarack St., Millinocket, where funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2005.
