MILBRIDGE – Arnold Keene Burke, 87, of Milbridge, died Tuesday, March 7, 2006, at Narraguagus Bay Healthcare Center in Milbridge. He was born in Milbridge, Oct. 31, 1918, the son of the late Eunice (Burke) Strout. Mr. Burke was a 30-year career veteran serving in the U.S. Air Force retiring as a master staff sergeant. Upon retirement, he returned home to Maine and was employed by the State of Maine for 20 years. He was a member of the Cherryfield American Legion Post No. 8. He was also a member of the Milbridge Masonic Lodge and the Bektash Shriners. He enjoyed fishing and wood working. He shared 55 years of marriage with Sylvia (Fickett) Burke who died in 1999. Family members include three daughters, Andrea L. Perry and her husband, Linden, of Milbridge, Terri Reed and her husband, Stephen, of Fuquay-Varina, N.C. and Rebecca Fenton and her husband, Bill, of Spring River Lake, a daughter-in-law, June Burke of Harrington, eight grandchildren, Joel, Holly, Brad Jr., Shannon, Rebecca, Samantha, Benjamin, and Daniel; 11 great-grandchildren, Andrea, Cole, Chase, Scott, Brandon, Seth, Meagan, Jessica, Aiden, Hunter, and Lucas; a sister, Norma Dow of Milbridge; three nieces and a nephew. He is also survived by a four-legged companion, Mrs. Lassie Strout. He was predeceased by his son, Bradford Burke in 2005. Graveside services with full military honors will be held 1:30 p.m. Sunday, March 12, 2006, at Rock Maple Cemetery, North Milbridge. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to American Legion Post No. 8, Main Street, Cherryfield, ME 04622. Arrangements are by the Bragdon-Kelley-Campbell Funeral Home, 47 Main St., Milbridge.
