EDDINGTON – Arnold W. Grover, 70, died April 26, 2006, at his residence. He was born May 14, 1935, in Bangor, the son of Ray B. and Inez R. (Norton) Grover. Arnold worked for Bean and Conquest for 27 years and he retired from Nynex after 13 years of service. He served as fire chief for the Eddington Fire Department for many years. He was a member of the Eddington Community Church, where he served as a deacon trustee. He also served on the board of selectman for the town of Eddington for seven years. He was a member of the St. Lawrence Lodge No. 83 AF & AM of Bangor, Anah Shrine Motor Corps of Bangor. He was an avid outdoorsman and was a long-time supporter of Maine Black Bears Hockey and he especially loved his time on the family farm. He is survived by his wife, Carol Grover of Eddington; five children, Lori Willette and her husband, Keary, of Gorham, Tracey Grover of Gorham, Annette Grover of Eddington, Shane Butler and his wife, Kira, of Bradley, Linda Stevens of California; and a special nephew, Gary Everett of Lead Mountain; three grandchildren, Celena Grover, Wyatt Butler, and Cameron Willette; two sisters, Jean Bragg and her husband, Raymond, of Eddington and Carolyn Honey and her husband, Dave, of Great Pond; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by one sister, Theodora Everett. Friends may call 2-4 and 5-7 p.m. Friday, April 28, at Brookings-Smith, Clark-Piper Chapel, 55 South Main St., Brewer, where a funeral service will be celebrated 1 p.m. Saturday, April 29, with the Rev. Roger Tracy, pastor of the Eddington Community Church, officiating. Interment will be in Meadowbrook Cemetery, Eddington.
