PEMBROKE – Arthur Elsdon Smith, 94, died Saturday, Oct. 13, 2007, at At-lantic Rehab & Nursing Center, Calais. Arthur was born Nov. 5, 1912, in Pembroke, son of the late Sabine and Annie (Clark) Smith. He was a World War II veteran, serving in the U.S. Army Company B 532nd Engineer Boat and Shore Regiment. Throughout his life, Arthur was employed as a janitor for area schools. He was predeceased by his sisters and brothers. Surviving are his loving wife of 56 years, Lettie Hersey Smith, and many nieces. A graveside service will be held 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 19, at Clarkside Cemetery, Pembroke.
