GULFPORT, Miss., and HOLDEN – Donald Miller Strout died unexpectedly Sunday, Oct. 7, 2007. Born Oct. 23, 1964, in Bar Harbor, he was the son of Duane Strout of Pensacola, Fla., and Judith Pangburn of Holden. He attended Holden schools and Bangor Christian Schools. In his youth, he made his profession of faith, was baptized and a member of Bangor Baptist Church. He prided himself in his carpentry and masonry abilities. He applied his skills to homes and businesses along the Gulf Coast, from Pensacola, Fla., to Gulfport, Miss. He found great recreational joy in rebuilding old engines to useable condition. The “purr” of a motor was music to his ears. He is survived by his father and mother; stepfather, Terrence Pangburn; sister, Debora Strout of Portland, and her sons, Brian Cross of Portland and Woodrow Cross III of Bangor; two grandmothers, Joanna Strout of Milbridge and Mary Fickett of Cherryfield; special friends, Chris and Karen of Gulfport, Miss.; uncles, aunts and several cousins. He was predeceased by two grandfathers, Mervin Strout Jr. of Milbridge and Nathaniel Fickett of Cherryfield. A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 19, at Bragdon-Kelley-Campbell Funeral Home, Milbridge, officiated by the Rev. Buddy Franklin.
