GREENFIELD – Arthur Gilbert, 81, died unexpectedly May 2, 2004 at his residence. He was born Dec. 2, 1923, in St. Rose, Canada, a son of Joseph and Josephine (Bouffard) Gilbert. Arthur loved the outdoors and worked in the woods his entire life. He was a registered Maine Guide and was known for his hunting and fishing abilities. He is survived by six siblings, Anne Marie Jacques of Ontario, Canada, Therese Roy and her husband, Clement, of Greenfield, Pierre Gilbert and his wife, Angel, of Old Town, Paul Emile Gilbert of Montreal, Canada, Marguerite Gratton of Ontario, Canada, Philip Gilbert and his wife, Sharon, of Old Town; many special nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers-in-law, Norman Jacques and Alan Gratton. A funeral service will be conducted 10 a.m. Thursday at the Birmingham Funeral Home, 438 Main St., Old Town, where friends may call from 9 a.m. until time of service.
