BANGOR – Arthur O. Goodridge Jr., 74, died Oct. 22, 2004, after a brief illness with pancreatic cancer. He was born in Bangor Aug. 27, 1930, the son of Arthur O. Goodridge Sr. and Myrtie F. (Ayer) Goodridge. He was a graduate of Bangor High School, Husson College and the Brown School of Banking. Arthur was a veteran of the US Air Force and served in the Air National Guard. Following this time he began his 30 year career in the banking industry, where he was a well-known and respected banker. He began working with Penobscot Savings, Bangor Savings then finally with Casco Northern. He was an active member of Hammond St. Congregational Church, where he held several church offices. Arthur was a member and past master of Benevolent Lodge No. 87 of Carmel, Member Scottish Rite Bodies Valley of Bangor, Maine Consistory 32 degree, York Rite Bodies of Bangor, and Treasurer of the Masonic Temple Association, Arthur was a Boy Scout Leader, a Charter Member of the Bangor-Brewer Breakfast Kiwanis Club and active with several other community agencies. Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Eleanor (Wing) Goodridge of Bangor; two daughters, Cheryl Louise Stuart and her husband, Philip and their son, Lance Stuart, all of Machias; Christine Ann Goodridge of Bangor; two sisters, Carolyn D. Miller of Hampden, Sally M. Jacques and her husband, Robert of Bangor; nieces and nephews; sister-in-law, Pat Goodridge of Largo, Fla.; brother-in-law, Raymond Wing of Plymouth; cousins, Donald Goodridge and his wife, Linda, Linda Quinlan, Sylvia Chamberlin, Peggy Gallop; uncle, Glendon Ayer; aunt, Evelyn Goodridge; a boy-hood friend, Ted Barber. He was predeceased by a granddaughter, Heather Leigh Stuart; and a brother, Robert W. Goodridge. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2004, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, where a Masonic memorial service will be conducted at 6:30 p.m. By the officers and member of Benevolent Lodge No. 87, Carmel. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, at Hammond St. Congregational Church, with the Rev. Dr. Mark Doty, pastor officiating. Interment will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery.
