BANGOR – Avis Lucy Wells, 93, died June 14, 2004, at a local healthcare center. She was born Aug. 28, 1911, in East Corinth, the daughter of Charles Henry and Lucy Julia (Wood) Katen. Surviving are seven children, Lucy Macomber of Brewer, Rose Hahn of Lincoln, Harry Wells Jr. of Bangor, Myrtle Thompson of Lincoln, Charles Wells of Dover-Foxcroft, Mary Dempsey of Bangor, and Wendell Wells of Brewer; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter, Norene Perigo; a brother, Charles Katen; and a sister, Rose Sykes. A funeral service will be held 12 noon Friday, June 18, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, with the Rev. Scott Cleveland, Pastor of the Second Congregational Church of Brewer, officiating. Friends may call at Brookings-Smith, 11 a.m. Friday until time of service. Interment will be in the Evergreen Cemetery, Bradley.
