ORRINGTON – Wayne D. Gray, 73, passed away June 15, 2004, surrounded by his family. He was born Sept. 18, 1930, in Brewer, the son of Preston W. and Alice M. (Emery) Gray. He attended Brewer High School, and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Wayne was a member and trustee of the Orrington Center Church, and a life time member of the Enterprise Grange. He owned Gray Woodproducts Inc. in Orrington, and resided on the Gray farm on the Johnson Mill Road. Wayne was an avid outdoorsman. He loved to ski, hunt, fish, trap and logging. One of his favorite camping spots was the Ron Virgin Inn. Wayne took extreme joy in his grandchildren and family. Wayne skied up until last year, and had a love of sailing and always had a fishing pole in his hand. He loved spending time in the woods and with his family. Wayne once drove a Harley to California, with his friend, Lawrence “Jink” Ring Jr., and drove a Hot Rod back. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Patricia (Grenier) Gray of Orrington; three sons, Douglas and his wife, Patty, of Orrington, Scot and his wife, Sharon, of Orrington, and Craig and his wife, Kim, of Clifton; one daughter, Laurie Ladd and her husband, Dana, of Holden; several grandchildren, Christopher M. Gray and his wife, Lynn, of Orono, Nathan Gentry Gray, Trevor Preston Gray, Kaitlin Emery Gray, all of Orrington, Kelly Rae Ladd and Devin Adam Ladd of Holden, Dustin Craig Gray of Clifton, Jessica Rebecca Gray of Orrington; one great-grandchild, Kylie Lynn Gray of Orono; two sisters, Mary Cranker and her husband, Stanley, of Warrensburg, N.Y., Glenis Ellis of Blue Hill; one brother, Donald Gray and his wife, Elyse, of Orrington; sister-in-law, Doris, of Milford; several cousins, nieces, nephews and close friends. He was predeceased by one brother, Frank E. Gray. A special thanks to the doctors, nurses, and the staff at St. Joseph Hospital in Bangor. Friends may call from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday, June 17, 2004, at Brookings-Smith, Clark-Piper Chapel, 55 South Main St., Brewer, where funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Friday with the Rev. Albert C. Buzzell, pastor of the Orrington Center Church, officiating. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Orrington. Relatives and friends are invited to share conversation and refreshments at the Orrington Center Church, 468 Dow Road, Orrington, following the service on Friday.
